Hi, I’m April Reissmann!
I’ve been sketchnoting since 2017, and I can genuinely say it’s changed my life. And likely saved it.
You see, I like to keep things real. That’s why I’m not afraid to share that I have bipolar I, generalized anxiety, and complex PTSD. I tell you this, dear reader, because I want you to understand the gravity of the statement: sketchnoting has changed my life. For the better. So much for the better.
Sketchnoting is a way to take the chaos in my mind and turn it into something I can understand and work with. Maybe even something beautiful. Not because sketchnoting is about art, but because it’s about capturing what resonates. What I feel is important to me and needs to be documented. What makes the lightbulb above my head light up.
Each sketchnote is different, and each sketchnoter has their own style. One of my favorite things is seeing the different styles that develop in my workshops. Many folks have never heard the term before we meet, and I get the honor of introducing them to a skill they’ll likely carry for the rest of their lives. It brings so much joy to them and to myself, and there is no shortage of smiles and giggles in my 101 workshops. Everyone leaves beaming with pride about how they learned they really can draw. What a beautiful thing.
I live, work, and travel around with world with my incredibly talented husband, Pavel, and my trusty service animal, Alan. Our lifestyle gives me my unique perspective regarding inclusion and accessibility. For the past decade, I've been helping people learn and grow through the learning and development programs I design and facilitate. I always aim to provide safe, judgment-free spaces and invite folks to show up as themselves and ask for what they need.
I’d like to ask what is it that you need?
How can I help?
